ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS & Services
Bethel
Community Facility (BCF)
is a 501 (c) (3)
not-for-profit organization located on the East Side of
Chicago Heights, Illinois (the most disadvantaged area in
the city). Our facility was developed in response to a dire
need for community-based programs and services that could
help rebuild our deteriorating, drug infested neighborhoods.
It was envisioned over
a quarter of a century ago as an alternative to these
elements for young children and their families. Social ills,
such as substance and chemical abuse, gang violence, high
rate of adolescent mothers, high unemployment, low skills,
homelessness, elevated high school dropout rates,
illiteracy, crime and violence bring constant challenges to
our area. Needless to say, the majority of residents whom we
serve are low-income, unskilled and un-or-under employed. In
response to that plight, BCF offers programs and services
that are necessary to enhance the quality of life and
employability of those we serve through partnerships with
local businesses, industry and other key agencies, such as
United Way.
Bethel Community
Facility has a sound reputation that brings needy persons to
its doors for counseling, for temporary economic support,
for food feedings, for educational advancement, for child
care, for medical services, and for youth and adult
programs, and for recreation. Likewise, to assure that those
people in need of the utmost betterment of their livelihood
are served, BCF was purposely positioned to be in the center
of an area that is mired in the grips of unemployment,
crime, violence, drug trafficking, gangs, chemical and
substance—the east side of Chicago Heights, IL and Ford
Heights, IL. Therefore, our facility is accomplished in that
it has years of aptitude, ingenuity and allegiance to aiding
and abetting the low-income individuals and their families
improve the quality of their lives.
