As part of a consortium, Bethel Community Facility’s Start Towards Employment Program (STEP) operates an employment training program which is funded by the Cook County Works (Youth) and United States Department of Labor (Adults). Accordingly, STEP incorporates workforce development principles into its methodology. The purpose is to prepare youth, adults and homeless persons for employment, education and training through a variety of processes by means of:

  • Informing potential clients about employment opportunities and daily job listings.

  • Preparing clients for employment by assisting them with filling out forms and putting together a resume.

  • Working closely with contractors, job service, and other agencies in placing clients.

  • Developing plans for clients , stressing their employability through training.

  • Networking communications in order to timely and accurately effect job placement and employment assistance.

  • Encouraging GED Obtainment or attending Basic Education classes.
